Description
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), Radiation Oncology Branch (ROB), designs and conducts pre-clinical and clinical research on the biologic and therapeutic effects of radiation therapy. ROB treats patients via radiosurgery, intensity-modulated 3-D conformal radiotherapy (IMRT), real-time dose measurement, brachytherapy, and magnetic resonance (MR)-guided procedures in accordance with approved clinical protocols. These treatments are conducted using a Varian linear accelerator system that has two (2) TrueBeam STX linear accelerator platforms which deliver a precise, highly localized radiation dose in order to treat the prescribed cancerous target volume while sparing adja
