Definition

The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number was a 9-digit identifier previously required for federal contracting. It was replaced by the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) in April 2022. Legacy contracts may still reference DUNS numbers, but new registrations use UEI.
