Overview

The Gov Contract Finder browser extension enhances your SAM.gov browsing experience by allowing you to save government contract opportunities directly to your Gov Contract Finder account.

Data Collection and Usage

Authentication Data

  • The extension stores an authentication token and its expiration time to maintain your signed-in session
  • It also stores your account and organization identifiers and basic profile fields provided by the Gov Contract Finder web app, such as name and email address
  • These values are stored in extension-local browser storage and used for account connection, session validation, and authenticated extension features

Opportunity Data

  • The extension reads opportunity IDs from SAM.gov pages you visit
  • Opportunity IDs may be sent to our API to check whether an opportunity is already saved
  • When you use the save control, the opportunity ID is sent to our API and associated with your authenticated account

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Browsing history outside the extension's supported Gov Contract Finder and SAM.gov pages
  • Postal address through the extension
  • Location data
  • Financial information
  • Health information
  • User activity or keystroke logging

Data Sharing

  • We do not sell extension data
  • The extension sends the data described above to Gov Contract Finder's systems to provide authentication, status checks, saving, and account features
  • Service providers may process data as described in the main privacy policy
  • Extension data is not used for credit determination

Data Storage

  • Authentication and basic profile data are stored in extension-local browser storage
  • Opportunity save data is stored on Gov Contract Finder servers
  • Removing the extension or clearing its storage removes local extension data; it does not by itself delete data held in your Gov Contract Finder account

Your Rights

  • You can remove the extension to stop its page access and clear its local data
  • Use the account controls or contact us at team@govcontractfinder.com for account-data requests

Security

The extension uses the following safeguards:

  • All API communications use HTTPS encryption
  • Authentication values are stored in the browser's extension-local storage rather than ordinary webpage storage
  • Authenticated API requests use the stored session token, and the extension validates the session with Gov Contract Finder's API
