Description

This is a request for authorization to purchase seam tape and related seam tape components from W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc., for use in the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Parka which will be supplied to the United States Navy. The NWU is required to be a waterproof breathable garment and seam tape is used to seal the tiny holes created when GORE-TEX fabric is sewn into garments. The sewing holes may be small, but they will cause leaks. W.L. Gore specially manufactures their own seam seal tape and regulates the seam taping process to ensure compatibility with GORE-TEX fabrics to ensure the durability of the seams waterproofness.
