The project entails roadway and pathway improvements intended to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians in an area congested with vehicle traffic. The project includes construction of a new paved bike path along the perimeter of the West Bluff Trailhead parking area and improvements to Long Avenue to accommodate an uphill bike lane. The project will construct a vehicle turnaround at the north/west terminus of the West Bluff Trailhead parking area to facilitate vehicle movements and relieve traffic congestion. Approximately 1,100 of new bike path will be constructed adjacent to the trailhead parking area. Several small retaining walls will be built to make room for the new path at the toe of the hillside.
