High Performance Cation Exchange Media

Problem Statement: NNL is interested in developing cation exchange media with enhanced performance characteristics. Traditional cation-anion mixed bed organic resins have an operating temperature range limited by the anion resin thermal stability limit of 140F. To complement development of high-temperature anion media, NNL is seeking a cation media that meets the following requirements: Improved thermal stability to enable normal operating temperature ? 250F at saturation pressure or above; Total mixed bed ion exchange capacity >0.8 milliequivalents per milliliter; Low solubility in dilute alkaline solution at elevated temperature.
