Filter availability follows source data
The advanced form loads several option lists from the current federal opportunity index. A control can be empty or a notice can omit a field. The interface and stored search model may expose slightly different subsets as the product evolves.

Practical filtering sequence

Establish the market scope
Begin with one or two title terms, NAICS codes, agencies, or classification values that describe the work.

Add competition and notice filters
Select only set-asides and notice types that support the research question. Verify actual eligibility in the official notice.

Add place and date windows
Use place of performance and dates to manage review volume, not to infer that the business can or cannot compete.

Inspect the results
Remove one filter at a time if the result set is unexpectedly empty; source records can omit fields or use a different classification.

Save a reviewed search
After checking several results, save the criteria if it will be reused and enable available notifications if appropriate.
Important limits
- • The current advanced form does not document contract-value or performance-duration range filters.
- • Selecting a certification or set-aside label does not verify the business's status or eligibility.
- • Place-of-performance fields describe the notice, not a guaranteed work location or bidder-residency rule.
- • A narrowly filtered result set can exclude relevant records with missing or differently coded source data.
- • Confirm every requirement, date, amendment, and submission instruction in SAM.gov and the solicitation documents.
